Description:
This is the State of Nebraska course required to obtain your concealed handgun permit (CHP). 88 Tactical offers the most comprehensive Concealed Carry Certification course in the state. In addition to the state required material, students take part in reality-based defensive drills, and are taught concepts of mindset and the realities of self-defense. The class consists of lecture, demonstrations, dry-fire practice, and live-fire training and testing. This is a valuable course for any responsible gun owner wanting to learn the basics of safety, storage, practical use, and self-defense laws.
What sets this course apart from other Concealed Carry Certification (CHP) classes?
88 Tactical recruits and retains the industry’s most experienced instructor cadre from the special operations military, law enforcement, and fire and rescue – many of whom continue to serve today.
All 88 Tactical training courses are built on the core concept of Reality Behavior-Based Conditioning© (RBBC). RBBC was developed from this maxim: “the study of behavior is as important as the study of tactics.” 88 Tactical courses condition an appropriate crisis response that maximizes performance while working with, instead of against, a person’s survival-oriented instincts and intuitions.
*If you are not comfortable going to the range and shooting on your own, we highly recommend that you take our Intro to Handgun Course first.

Description:
(One-Day Course)
This class is designed to meet the standards and guidelines as set forth by the Commonwealth of Virginia for the “Concealed Weapon Permit.” In actuality, this class far exceeds the minimum standards requirements – this is not a minimum requirement class you will find provided by our competitors in Hampton Roads. You will learn to shoot. Some important guidelines: starting time is 8:30 am sharp. Weekday classes are available for groups of six students.
This class is available to first-time shooters, as well as those who have some handgun experience. This class is designed specifically for the needs of the civilian firearms owner who desires to carry a firearm in public.
The class covers Basic Firearms Safety and Handling; Firearm Selection and Specialization; Modes and Methods of Carry; a detailed review of the Virginia State Statutes, specifically as they apply to carrying a concealed firearm; Review of "Castle Doctrine" and "Use of Force" statutes and laws; and much more.
The class runs approximately seven (7) hours, and we provide the course information, application packet and assist in filling out the application.
Every participant will need to bring a photo identification, and will be required to shoot approximately 200 rounds for qualification. Yes, this is substantially more than the legal minimum, but we want to verify safe and proficient handling, as well as marksmanship skills. You will leave here with a high degree of confidence in your ability and an understanding of your weapon system and how to deploy it in a defensive confrontation.
Firearms are provided for this class at a cost of $20.00. Several models are available to help you determine what best fits your personal needs. If you do not have one, we strongly recommend waiting to purchase your firearm until AFTER the class, in order to determine the best firearm that fits your hand, body type and mode of carry. We also provide holsters and magazine pouches for the weapons systems. Please wear a sturdy belt to the class and suitable clothing for the weather conditions that will enable you to move around in an athletic manner. We train outside on the ranges (shooting and moving); not indoors in a firing lane which severely limits the value of the training.
Class fee is $125.00 plus the cost of your ammunition. You may bring your own ammunition or purchase it in our Pro Shop (approximately $60.00 for 200 rounds of 9mm). The state charges $50.00 to process your license, which is good for 5 years. That fee is submitted with your application to the Commonwealth of Virginia – not paid to the range.
