(Two-Day Course)

This class is designed to meet the needs of the shooter who has little or no suitable experience with the M4 Carbine and/or variants. The majority of our training time is used learning and refining our weapons manipulation skills. We believe in the "train like you will fight" mentality, and use a variety of drills to develop a student's skills while under stress. The following skills and topics are covered.

Fundamentals of marksmanship / Zeroing / Sight in / BZO / Optics / Ballistics
High and low-ready positions / Single/Multiple target engagement
Shot progression / Recoil management / Sight management
Reloads
Speed shooting sequence
Facing movements / Shooting on the move
Malfunction drills / Strong Hand / Weak Hand manipulations
Typical and Adverse Shooting positions / Adverse angles
100-yard / 200-yard / 300-yard shooting

Class fee is $350.00 + the cost of your ammunition. You may bring your own ammunition or purchase it in our Pro Shop. Ammunition requirements are 400-600 rounds of standard ball for rifle.

You will need your Rifle, 3 Magazines, magazine pouch on belt or vest, sling, eye pro, ear pro, and suitable clothing for the weather conditions that will allow you to move around in an athletic manner. All weather gear is recommended; we will train in inclement weather. Bring any other items you feel will be required to sustain you on the range for two days (i.e. aspirin, band-aids, gloves, sunscreen, etc.). We train outside on a series of outdoor ranges shooting paper targets and static steel targets from various positions in order to create stress on the shooter.


Must have:

You will need your Rifle, 3 Magazines, magazine pouch on belt or vest, sling, eye pro, ear pro, and suitable clothing for the weather conditions that will allow you to move around in an athletic manner. Bring any other items you feel will be required to sustain you on the range for two days (i.e. aspirin, band-aids, gloves, sunscreen, etc.). The majority of our training time is used learning and refining our weapons manipulation skills and defensive tactics. We believe in the "train like you will fight" mentality, and use a variety of drills to develop a student's skills while under stress. The following skills and topics are covered in addition to ammunition selection, medium shooting, modes of carry and gear selection.

Bring any other items you feel will be required to sustain you on the range for four days (i.e. aspirin, band-aids, gloves, sunscreen, etc.). We train outside on a series of outdoor ranges shooting paper targets, static steel targets, steel plate racks from various positions in order to place stress on the shooter.

The Open Range Sessions are public, 4-hour, training and instruction seminars hosted by our President and Chief Instructor, Kent Mote. They are designed to meet the needs of the intermediate to advanced self-defense shooting skills with pistol, carbine, and shotgun. Shooters will spend the majority of training time learning and refining weapons manipulation skills and tactics. These sessions will help all student levels from intermediate to advanced practical or competitive shooting skills.

We will use a variety of drills to develop a student's skills and confidence while under stress. The following skills and topics are covered as required to assist individual shooters in increasing their speed and confidence in a given task. Skills and topics covered include:

Fundamentals of marksmanship / High and low-ready positions
Trigger Control, pace, and rhythm
Single/Multiple target engagement / Shot progression
Recoil management / Sight management
Reloads
Speed shooting sequence
Draws from the holster / Facing movements
Speed reloads / Malfunction drills
Typical and Adverse Shooting positions
Transition to shooting positions / Barricades
Man vs. Man competition / Training behind the power curve
Stress Course


Must have:

Session fee is $50.00 for two hours minimum + the cost of your ammunition. The session is open to up to eight (8) shooters to allow for competition between students. You may bring your own ammunition or purchase it in the Pro Shop. Ammunition requirements vary depending on the skills practiced; we recommend you bring plenty of ammunition. It is not unusual to shoot 500 rounds in one session.

You will need your holster, two magazine pouches (available for rent if needed), a sturdy belt, eye pro, ear pro, and suitable clothing for the weather conditions that will allow you to move around in an athletic manner. A ll weather gear is re commended; we will train in inclement weather. Bring any other items you feel will be required to sustain you on the range for the session. We train outside on the East Training Ranges which are not covered.
Sessions are typically held Wednesday and Sunday afternoon from 12:00 pm and run until 4:00 pm. See our events calendar for a complete list of dates and times.
