Description:
The Commonwealth of Virginia mandates training for each individual applying for a concealed handgun permit. Our CHP Course exceeds the State requirements. We teach you what you need to know versus the minimum requirements. Our instructors are all DCJS or NRA certified. It is very important that the student already be familiar with their firearm as there is no time allotted in class for personal firearm instruction. Personal instruction can be scheduled with an instructor or you may attend the Handgun Fundamentals Course prior to the CHP Course if needed.
Our focus will be on Va. Code 18.2-308 certification, safety, liability, use of deadly force, interfacing with law enforcement, gun laws, case law and current legislation among other legal aspects. Even if you are active duty military and an expert shot, this is an excellent course to get you up to date on Virginia gun laws regarding self defense.
There is a written exam and range qualification to complete this course. The course is given over a six hour block of time (plus range qualification). The tuition is $60.00 and includes all training materials. Gun rental and Ammo are available.

The Marksman offers a clean, safe shooting environment for handguns and small bore rifles. We offer (8) eight Caswell academy style lanes and a ScanCo HEPA filtered air system. Bring your family and friends to The Marksman for an enjoyable outing.
If you only shoot a few times a year, then hourly range use is the way to go. We charge $14.00 per person per hour if you purchase our ammunition and $16.00 per person per hour if you use your ammunition. (Note - range fee is $16.00 per hour for qualifying) You are limited to one hour if the range is busy, if it is slow, shoot as long as you like. Shooters are allowed to bring their own ammunition, as long as it is not steel cored (if a magnet sticks to it, we will not let you use it) and no tracer rounds. We do ask that you buy our targets. If you do not have eye & ear protection, it is available for rental.
