This is the class required in order to obtain a Texas License to Carry a Handgun (LTC). It consists of four hours of classroom instruction, plus a shooting proficiency demonstration on the range. The time on the range varies depending upon the size of the class and the experience level of the students. The total class time is approximately 5.5 hours.

Taught by experienced instructors in our state-of-the-art facility, students will feel comfortable as they complete the required classroom instruction and range qualification. Built into a single day of instruction, the class generally runs every Saturday, with occasional weekday and Sunday classes.

Prospective students should note that there is NO instruction on shooting skills, and all students are expected to be able to safely operate their handgun and pass the proficiency exam.

The traditional method is the best way to get your license as it allows you to be in front of an instructor and interact with them. Asking questions and clarifying the Texas Penal Code. The law can be difficult to understand when it comes to the use of deadly force and nothing beats the ability to ask about your scenarios with an instructor. We teach this class every week and everything is completed on site to include the fingerprints. We are the ONLY one-stop shop in the area and take care of everything here at our range facility. Our LTC class includes all State mandated classroom instruction, in addition you must pass the 25 question exam and demonstrate handgun proficiency with our Licensed Instructor. Total time (all classroom, exam, handgun proficiency, and breaks is approximately 5 to 6 hours). You will receive your Certificate of Training LTC 100 form upon successful completion. MINIMUM CLASS ENROLLMENT OF 3 STUDENTS OR CLASS WILL BE RE-SCHEDULED AT NO CHARGE. There is a $25 charge for any student requesting to re-schedule their class date more than once.

This 5-Hour LADIES ONLY Texas Concealed Handgun License (San Antonio CHL) course provides all of the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) requirements you need to obtain your Texas Concealed Handgun License (San Antonio CHL). It is conducted in a ladies-only format and is designed to be not only educational, but a fun-filled day! When we get to the firing range, we purposely do everything to ensure you DO NOT feel rushed. This course goes above and beyond those of our competitors and INCLUDES basic handgun marksmanship fundamentals so you can brush up on things if needed. We can proudly boast that we have a 100% pass rate on the state Texas Concealed Handgun License (Texas CHL) proficiency test!

Handgun of at least .22 caliber or greater in good repair. (Note: We have them (9mm) to use (FREE) if you need one) Note: No 41/44 Magnums or .50 caliber handguns allowed on the course

This is the Range Proficiency portion of the Online – Texas Licence to Carry Course.

Description:

A mandatory License to Carry (LTC) class is required. It is state mandated to be 4-6 hours excluding test and shooting time. Classes are offered at Panhandle Gunslingers twice per month in most cases. Contact Us for more information about our class schedule.

Bring with you to the class a pen, firearm, ammunition, hearing and eye protection, and your Texas issued picture identification (Driver’s License or equivalent). Firearms and safety equipment can be rented at Panhandle Gunslingers. We also sell ammunition, safety equipment and firearms!

It takes Texas a minimum of 45 days, usually 60, to process the CHL. However, it can take up to 180 days.

If you need basic handgun education (this class assumes basic knowledge), we will gladly set up an appointment for private instruction. This individual basic instruction is $40.00 per hour.

Classroom Qualifications:
The state requirement (Texas) for classroom time has been mandated at four (4) to six (6) hours for new applicants. At the end of the classroom time a written, standardized test will be administered.
Firing Range Qualifications:
The shooting proficiency test consists of fifty (50) rounds at three (3) distances: Twenty (20) shots @ 9-feet, twenty (20) shots @ 21-feet, and ten (10) shots at 45-feet.
The shooting proficiency test is timed and will be graded for accuracy and scoring.
Standard safety requirements will be practiced by all students.
State Fees:
The standard licensing fee for a 1st time applicant is $140, half price to seniors, $25 to veterans & free to active military (within 1- year of discharge).

The shooting down range qualification is shooting at 3, 5, and 7 yards. Minimum score is 225 out of 300 on a standard silhouette B27 target.
3 yards – 6 rounds dominant hand unsupported, 6 rounds non-dominant hand supported.
5 yards is 12 rounds with supported dominant hand.
7 yards is 12 rounds with supported dominant hand.

This course, formerly known as TX Concealed Handgun License (CHL), now incorporates updated laws and regulations, including those that cover Open Carry. Taking the class with Lone Star Shooting Sports allows you to qualify in our state of the art range. If you need to "borrow" a handgun for the class, we are happy to loan you ours. Description:

The license to carry a firearm class is composed of two parts. Part one is class time where the current firearm laws in Texas are reviewed and discussed. There will be a short test at the end of instruction on this material. Part two is the shooting qualification that happens on the range. Student will shoot 20 bullets at their target at a distance of 3 yards. Another 20 bullets will be shot at a distance of 7 yards. And the final 10 bullets will be shot at a distance of 15 yards.
