Classroom Qualifications:
The state requirement (Texas) for classroom time has been mandated at four (4) to six (6) hours for new applicants. At the end of the classroom time a written, standardized test will be administered.
Firing Range Qualifications:
The shooting proficiency test consists of fifty (50) rounds at three (3) distances: Twenty (20) shots @ 9-feet, twenty (20) shots @ 21-feet, and ten (10) shots at 45-feet.
The shooting proficiency test is timed and will be graded for accuracy and scoring.
Standard safety requirements will be practiced by all students.
State Fees:
The standard licensing fee for a 1st time applicant is $140, half price to seniors, $25 to veterans & free to active military (within 1- year of discharge).
The standard licensing fee for renewals is $70, half price to seniors, $25 to veterans & free to active military (within 1- year of discharge). No classroom time or proficiency test is required.
