Description:

The Weekend (usually Saturday) class is a one day class from 8am until 1pm. Weekday (usually Tuesday) classes typically begin at 6pm and ending at 10pm with the shooting proficiency scheduled by appointment.

For the shooting proficiency, bring the gun you want to qualify with and a minimum of 50 rounds of ammo. If you need ammo, please let us know what caliber so we can have it on hand if you need to buy it. Ammo must be factory ammo for qualifying.

You may qualify with a semi-auto or revolver. These guns are available for loan with the purchase of ammo if you do not have one for qualifying.

You only need one magazine as the rounds are loaded for each “rotation” of shooting. No preloading of magazines is necessary.

If you have eye and ear protection you prefer, please bring it. If you need it, we will provide it. If you wear corrective glasses, you are not required to wear additional eye protection.

The Shooting Proficiency requires 50 shots – 20 at 3 yards, 20 at 7 yards and 10 at 15 yards.
A perfect score is 250 and a minimum of 175 or 70% is required to qualify.

For the Shooting Proficiency, we will meet at Best Shot Range at 8am. For the classroom portion of the class, we will be using an offsite Conference Room.
After everyone has completed this portion or scheduled an alternate time to shoot, we will proceed to the offsite facility for the remainder of the class.

This course provides the training necessary to obtain a Texas license to Carry. It includes four hours of classroom instruction as mandated by the Texa Department of Public Safety. Students are required to pass a firearms proficiency demonstration and a written exam.

The class may be rescheduled with less than three (3) students registered.

The RSO course content consists of RSO’s roles and responsibilities, range standard operating procedures, range inspection and range rules, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, and Range Safety Briefings which include procedures to follow in the case of an emergency.

Obtaining a license to carry a handgun in the State of Texas requires a minimum 4-6-hour License To Carry A Handgun Certification Course which is outlined by the State Department of Public Safety and covers:

The shooting portion of the course consists of 20 rounds at three (3) yards, 20 rounds at seven (7) yards and 10 rounds at fifteen (15) yards. It is a fairly easy test, but you must be able to load, operate and fire a firearm with some proficiency. This is a course on gun laws and a shooting test, not a basic pistol class. We offer basic pistol instruction at our “Learn to Shoot” classes.
What is the cost of the course?

The fee paid to Spring Guns & Ammo is $69.95, which includes the range fee for the shooting portion of the course. Upon completion, you will be given a Free Range Pass ($17.00 value) and 5% off of a firearm, if purchased within five (5) days.

The fee paid to the State is $40.00 (the State fee is half-price for seniors & veterans), which is good for about five (5) years. You must also complete finger printing at a cost of typically $10.00.
