Description:

License to Carry, this classroom time will go over all the Texas State laws that surround your ability to carry a handgun. Formerly the Concealed Handgun License (CHL) this course now incorporates subjects such as the new Open Carry Laws and up to date current law and regulations that are constantly updated. Defender's LTC course always includes the opportunity for each individual to complete the firearms qualification portion of the Course the same day as the course.

This five hour class is comprised of classroom instruction and proficiency testing. It satisfies all requirements as mandated by the state of Texas for those acquiring their license to carry (LTC). Students will be provided a CHL-100 form upon successful completion of all class requirements. Registration fees will cover appropriate target, eye protection, and hearing protection.
Note: The Texas State License fee is not included.

Description:

This class will certify you to open-carry or conceal-carry a handgun. It is approximately 4-6 hours and includes classroom instruction and a shooting proficiency test. You are required to arrive with handgun proficiency in order to complete the course. This class does not teach you how to shoot. Classroom topics covered include the use of deadly force, nonviolent dispute resolutions, proper storage of firearms, and state laws.

LICENSE TO CARRY HANDGUN PROCESS:

Complete the online application at https://txapps.texas.gov/txapp/txdps/ltc/.
Get electronic fingerprints by L1 Solutions or Morphotrust USA.
Successfully complete handwritten and shooting proficiency test. After completion, send in the signed CHL-100 to Texas DPS.

SHOOTING PROFICIENCY TEST:

20 rounds at 3 yards
20 rounds at 7 yards
10 rounds at 15 yards

A score of 175 is required to pass.

Firing Line's Permit to Carry or other wise known as Conceal Carry fulfills MN requirements for new and renewal of existing permit to carry. This is not an entry class and basic handgun experience is recommended. This course is designed to teach the licensed firearms carrier protection for themselves and other around them.

Description:

This class provides valuable extended in depth training in addition to the basic requirements of the Minnesota Personal Protection Act for your carry permit. The course covers live and simulated real life scenarios, types of concealment and equipment available, basic firearm maintenance and accessories, the types of ammunition available and their use, non-lethal defense tactics, use of lethal force and the psychological effects. There will be a live fire qualification test using 50 rounds of ammunition.

Experience: Has previous firearm experience and is proficient in use of a handgun or has completed one or both of our Intro to Pistol classes.

Description:

Our CHL class is taught by a certified CHL instructor and meets or exceeds the minimum requirements defined by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Unless otherwise noted, the class begins at 9am and ends at about 3pm. Students will get several 10 minute breaks and a one hour lunch break.

Because of scheduling requirement and class limitations, Shiloh Shooting has a strict NO REFUNDS policy for CHL (including Renewal) Classes, Basic Handgun Classes and Gift Certificates. You agree that you meet, to the best of your knowledge, the Texas CHL Eligibility Requirements. Neither Shiloh Shooting Range, nor your CHL Instructor, is responsible for seeing that you meet these eligibility requirements.

CHL class rescheduling must be requested at least 48 hours before the day of the class. Students may reschedule a class only twice before forfeiting the class fee.

We work hard to teach you the basics in 4 hours, but we will make sure we stay to answer your questions and not just push you out the door. We teach you when and where you can carry. We discuss how to carry your pistol. We talk about laws regarding the use of deadly force in Texas and we try to teach you when a jury of your peers might be more likely to understand your use of that deadly force. Above all, we try to teach you how to avoid situations where you might need to use your pistol. I do not stand in front of you for 4 hours and read from a book. I try to teach you what it means. You will not suffer death by PowerPoint. So, much of my job, as I see it, is to make you think and to provide you with the factors you need to consider in making your own decisions. This LTC course (formerly known as a CHL course), taught at our northwest Houston gun range, is required to obtain your Texas License to Carry permit. The class includes 4-6 hours of class room instruction, a 25 question written test, and a 50 round shooting qualification (shooting proficiency is NOT part of the 4-6 hours). Classroom instruction is to teach you the laws of when you may and may not carry your handgun, when you may and may not use it to defend yourself, your responsibilities regarding safe storage, non-violent resolution and more! This class does not in any way teach you how to accurately shoot, you MUST be proficient before this class. Participants with less shooting are advised to choose a time in advance to come to the range. Applicants must be 21 of age unless active duty military.
