This one-day intermediate tactical training course that covers what we believe to be the minimum knowledge, skills, and tactics required to safely and effectively carry a concealed handgun for defensive purposes.

TOPICS COVERED:
Firearms training safety rules review. Principles of personal defense. Mental conditioning and combat mindset. Threat assessment and area scanning.
Tactically employing the semi-automatic pistol. Understanding Condition Readiness: Condition 0, Condition 1, Condition 2, Condition 3, and Condition 4
Ballistics. Refining presentation from the holster and concealment. Reducing stimulus/response time. Balancing speed and accuracy.
Moving off the line of force and lateral displacement. Conceal and Cover. Mozambique drill or Failure to Stop drills.
Weapon retention issues. Example: holster malfunctions, Pro’s and Con’s of different holster systems. Support hand becomes the primary shooting hand.

Must have:

Eye protection, ear protection, baseball type cap, concealment garment (jacket, shirt or vest), reliable concealment belt holster, magazine carriers, personal defense handgun with at least (3) hi-capacity magazines or (5) single stack magazines, handgun cleaning kit and gun oil / CLP.

Description:

The Tueller Drill is a self-defense training exercise to prepare for a short-range knife attack when armed only with a holstered handgun.

A defender with a gun has a dilemma. If he shoots too early, he risks being accused of murder. If he waits until the attacker is definitely within striking range so there is no question about motives, he risks injury and even death. The Tueller experiments quantified a “danger zone” where an attacker presented a clear threat.

As an instructor, I personally believe the Tueller Drill to be one of the most important for people to learn. It is probably one of the most fun to do, but in my opinion, it can also be the most humbling experience in training. Not many people can do it, but you can master it with practice and patience. It’s really designed to show you how real life scenarios will go down.

The Intermediate Carbine course is designed to build on the base skills taught in the Intro to Carbine 1 course.
The Carbine 2 course adds stress shooting, timed events and real-world scenarios to enhance a students ability to perform in a life and death encounter.

Red dot sights and holographic sights are allowed

A three hour classroom and range program designed as instruction to civilian defensive handgun shooting. The Defensive Pistol Series (DP-1, 2 & 3) was developed by and is taught by Elm Fork’s Chief Instructor, Dave Crites. The PDP Series represents a 3-day defensive pistol course divided into 3 separate installments. This approach allows you to get the training you desire without having to commit to training you are not yet seeking, allows you to practice between classes and to advance at your own pace. Each class in the Series focuses on practical shooting, gun-handling and tactics that every responsible armed citizen should know and possess. You will also learn proven methods of practicing these skills, both on the range via live fire and at home via dry practice, giving you the ability to maintain and improve the skills you’ve learned.

Join us for 'Beyond the LTC' class where you will learn how to 'present' your handgun from a holster. We start in the classroom where you will learn and practice the handgun draw techniques and then move to the range to use these same techniques in actual live fire practice.

Description:

Much like our Introduction to Handgun class, Basic Rifle/Carbine offers students information to the world of rifle shooting. Our Instructors will explain all parts of the AR-15 rifle platform. Students will learn proper terminology, nomenclature, grip, stance, and how to sight in your rifle.

After a brief classroom instruction, students will hit the range and begin taking part in some basic rifle shooting drills, all done under the supervision of one of our Frisco Gun Club Firearms Instructors.

This is the perfect class for new rifle shooters, or for the individual that hasn’t shot their rifle in some time, and wants to get reacquainted with proper shooting skills. If you are interested in eventually taking one of our more advanced tactical rifle courses, this is where you start.

Description:

This 2-hour class teaches proper weapons handling, marksmanship skills and handling skills. It explains the need for continued training and education, proper dry fire training regimen, and regular live firearm training to maintain a very perishable skill.

For all courses please arrive 30 minutes prior for check in and safety brief. Please come with all necessary equipment and be prepared to start immediately. If you do not have required equipment when you arrive, you can observe the class from the firing line but you may not be able to participate in all shooting drills. Description:

The Tactical Shotgun Course teaches the shooter from basic to advanced skills. This class teaches proper weapons safety, handling/skills and proficiency in shotgun manipulation. We will move through this class in a simple to complex manner. Topics start with basic shooting fundamentals such as grip, stance and trigger control. Students are individually evaluated to demonstrate their ability of accuracy, and consistency. Within a short time, the student will be introduced to the application of shotgun in all its forms. We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the shotgun. Some topics to be covered are: loading (combat and tactical) single/multiple shots, multiple targets, and select ammunition drills. We will also cover the use of specific use ammo from bird shot to slugs and buckshot. This is a fast-paced class with a lot of shooting.

Must have:

Any Shoulder fired (With stock) semi-auto shotgun or pump action, (12 or 20 gauge)
Dump pouch preferred, but not required (Large cargo pockets can be used)
Minimum ammunition 125 buckshot and 50 slug shells

Our housing will comfortably sleep 15 quests. Available game for hunting include predators, black buck, aoudad, axis deer, whitetail deer, wild hogs, and more.
