Description:
This is the prerequisite course for an application to obtain an NC Concealed Carry Handgun permit. The course is 8 hours of classroom training, followed by a written test, then a shooting qualification on the firing range. The qualification consists of 10 shots at 3 yards, 15 shots at 5 yards, and 15 shots at 7 yards. After successful completion of the course, students will be able to apply for their NC CCH permit with their respective sheriff departments.
Successful completion of the course, and subsequently receiving a CCH Certificate, requires that you pass the firearms and written exams.
This course is not intended for novice shooters and does not include the training in order to pass the range qualification. Taking this course assumes you already have the skills and experience to safely handle, use, and manipulate handguns. If you don’t have those skills, please consider taking a Private Instruction or Basic Handgun course before taking this qualification course.
You’re welcome to bring your personal firearm to this class. If you will be renting a firearm, we have a supply of 9mm Glock handguns to rent for this class.
To participate in any of Triangle Shooting Academy’s courses you must first sign our Range Waiver and Agreement.

Description:
This course is the first in a series of Defensive Pistol courses. The class reemphasizes foundations of firearm handling, stance, grip, sight acquisition, trigger control, and other skills necessary to succeed in a defensive pistol encounter. The skills gained in this course are also extremely beneficial to students wishing to improve their shooting skills and manipulation of the handgun. If you have received your Concealed Handgun Permit, or intend to do so, we strongly recommend that you take this course. This course is designed for students who already have a base knowledge of handguns and their manipulations. Defensive Pistol 1 is a prerequisite for all other Handgun Defensive Pistol series taught at Triangle Shooting Academy.
New and inexperienced shooters, please consider taking a Basic Handgun course or a Private Instruction to help prepare you for the Defensive Pistol series.
All attendees must arrive at least 15 minutes early to complete waiver, watch safety video, purchase range card, pay for class (if not already done), and finish other registration requirements.

This is an introductory course for new female shooters including classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn rules for safe gun handling, pistol parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, range rules, two handed shooting positions, cleaning firearms, and continued opportunities for skill development.
**Firearm rental is NOT included.
You’re welcome to bring your personal firearm to this class. If you will be renting a firearm, you will be renting a 9mm caliber handgun.

When renting our firearms, you are renting the caliber. This gives our guests the opportunity to “Try Before You Buy” and switch out firearms freely within the same caliber and type without any additional costs. For example, a customer may rent the 9mm caliber, start off with the Glock 19 and switch to the Sig Sauer P226 without any additional costs. Customers love this aspect because they get to try as many firearms as they wish within the caliber they rented, allowing them to discover the firearm that best suits their needs. Keep in mind that when renting our firearms, you must purchase our ammunition.
Range
One of the largest indoor ranges in the country in Phase I, Triangle Shooting Academy is poised to become even larger when Phase II is completed. Currently, we have 33 lanes, all of which are 25 yards long. And Phase II will expand our facility by seven, 100-yard indoor lanes.
Our target carriers are the same used at the NRA range in Washington, DC. These carriers are state of the art, 360 degrees turning high-speed targeting systems. Special soundproofing has been added to ensure a good experience. Bulletproof glass and doors with a concrete ceiling ensure that no rounds can escape the range.
