The Basic Hunter Education Course is now mandatory for first-time hunters looking to obtain a hunting license in Massachusetts. It also fulfills the requirements needed to apply for a Firearms Identification (FID) card or License to Carry (LTC) permit.
Course instruction includes:
Safe handling and storage of hunting arms and ammunition
Hunting laws and ethics
Wildlife identification
Wildlife management
Care and handling of game
Basic survival skills and first aid

Description:
The outdoor range was rebuilt in 2008 with 21 foot berms and a "no-blue-sky" baffle system. The range offers shooting stations at 50 feet, 50 yards, and 100 yards. Additional targets were recently added for 22 and 33 feet. Please note that no steel-core ammo is allowed on the range.
The Rifle Committee holds monthly events on the Outdoor Range. Please check the calendar for upcoming shoots.

Benefits of being a member:
Children 14 to 17 years of age can also join the Club. They are called "Junior Members" and hold all the same privileges as Regular Members except for the ability to vote. Yearly dues for Junior Members are only $50 a year, and the application and new member fees are waived. Prospective Junior Members must complete a Membership Application (with approval of their parent or guardian) and be approved by the Board of Directors.
After 15 consecutive years of membership, those that reach the age of 65 become "Life Members". Life Members retain all privileges of regular membership, but they no longer have to pay the yearly dues.
