Description:

The Modern Technique, as applied to the carbine. Learn to manage your environment from arm’s length to 300 yards. This course will help you become thoroughly familiar with your carbine and your capabilities with it.

Of course we will cover all the important aspects of marksmanship, gun handling and mindset. You will shoot from a variety of positions and learn how to use them to conform to available cover in our outdoor simulators including the famous Gunsite Scrambler. Outdoor simulators will challenge your ability to locate and put accurate fire on targets out to 300 yards.

In addition to the range drills, school drills, carbine “El Presidente” and simulators, you will shoot on the move, learn to get off the line of attack, transition from carbine to pistol and shoot in low light/no light conditions.

Carbines make an excellent choice for home defense. You will learn tactics that can be employed in your home or place of business in our live fire indoor and outdoor simulators.

AR-15, SCAR-L, AK-74, AK-47, Mini-14 and similar carbines are all applicable for this class.

Description:

This class is “The Gunsite Experience” and was first presented in October 1976 by Colonel Jeff Cooper.

Regardless of your age, gender or experience, completing the 250 class will change your life! You will be well grounded in the ‘Modern Technique of the Pistol’, including marksmanship, gun handling and mindset. Through our systematic methodology you will achieve confidence, competence, new skills and best of all, peace of mind. Students emerge stronger, more alert, and conditioned to respond appropriately to any threat.

The 250 includes five solid days of range work, lectures, low light/night shooting with flashlight techniques and intensive indoor and outdoor live fire simulators. Red dot sights are welcome. You will learn to be in control of your immediate environment. Can you shoot at night?

Many lifelong friendships are formed with fellow students and instructors during this life changing week.

Completion of the 250 course is a prerequisite for many other courses as this is where our core doctrinal principles are ingrained.

Description:

Firearms training and proficiency are important. Equally as important and more likely to be used is Emergency Medical training. The past few years of natural disasters, active shooters and large-scale rioting have shown the need for emergency medical skills for the everyday person.

Using a combination of classroom presentation and hands on practice exercises, you will learn valuable lifesaving skills. Those new skills will then be put to the test in very challenging, fast paced scenarios that prepare you for the real-life events. This is a non-shooting course.

Description:

Skill at arms is a perishable skill. We have added Range Days to our schedule which gives “Gunsite Pistol Alumni” an opportunity to come out to the range and shoot with an instructor for 8 hours. Basic level exercises are led by Gunsite Rangemasters and coaches in a safe and controlled Gunsite class atmosphere.

Ammo Pkgs are not available for Range Days. You are welcome to purchase the required amount of ammo for this class from the ProShop when you arrive.

Note: You must have completed a Gunsite pistol class to participate.

Description:

“The Jewel of Battle”, Jeff Cooper. The Gunsite 270 Class is to the rifle what the Modern Technique is to the pistol. This is a comprehensive course in the essential elements of safety and field rifle-craft. It should be mandatory for all young boys and girls prior to achieving adulthood.

Learning to operate a rifle is essential for all manner of outdoorsmen including ranchers, farmers, geologists, fishermen, and sportsmen. It is especially useful for hunters. Whether a novice or a shooter who wants to enhance existing skills, the 270 will challenge and strengthen your marksmanship where it really counts — in the field.

The class will provide a thorough understanding of exterior and terminal ballistics at ranges from 25 to 300 yards, and clients will learn to hit quickly from standing (offhand), kneeling, sitting and prone positions. Clients will hone their skills in simulators paralleling conditions in the field, with an emphasis on quick target acquisition at extended and unknown ranges. By the end of your course, if you can see it, you’ll probably be able to hit it – on demand and under time pressure.

Must have:

Serviceable rifle in calibers such as: .243, .308, .30-06, .270.
If so equipped, a quality telescope properly secured and zeroed or bore sighted. You will be given an opportunity to zero your rifle the first day of class.

Ammo management device, i.e. gun/belt ammo carriers.

Description:

This class will combine various aspects of all the Gunsite pistol classes (250, 350, 499, CQP), with the added requisite of concealment. Various concealment systems will be discussed and demonstrated. This will include the various concealed carry purses and bags for the ladies. Emphasis will be on presenting the pistol at relatively short distances in a timely, smooth and safe manner. The holster should be rigid enough to facilitate-holstering the pistol with one hand. No shoulder holsters will be allowed.

Heavy duty serviceable handgun with good sights, a decent trigger & sharp edges removed – 9mm, .40cal or 45acp
Heavy belt, holster, magazine carrier
(Safety Issue – Prohibiting Use of Blackhawk SERPA Holsters – No IWB holsters for CCW & 250 Class).
Minimum of 6 singlestack or three high cap magazines/6 speed-loaders / minimum of 2 magazines or speed loaders for CCW
Knee pads recommended for 250.

Small handheld flashlight with pressure switch (Not required for CCW or LP1)

Description:

It’s a fact that most confrontations occur in low light or darkness. It is imperative that you develop the skills and tactics necessary to prevail in these conditions.

It is basic human nature to be afraid of the dark. Humans are mostly “seeing” creatures, so our primary sense is greatly degraded in this environment. People that work and operate in darkness all the time have more or less lost this fear. They do this by adapting how they walk to negate obstacles and realizing that there aren’t dangers lurking in every shadow. We changed the curriculum in 2011 where we now shoot all 5 nights of the class. With this increase in time the class can cover more of the different methodologies needed to teach students the core subjects. These include shooting moving targets, shooting on the move, shooting against a target that has a flashlight on you and the most important of the skills, how to properly search with a light effectively. In every class, the most rewarding thing for the instructors is seeing the transformation that takes place between Tuesday night and graduation. The timid souls who walked through the outdoor simulator for the first time transform into fully confident and competent night fighters by the end of the week. Come and join us in November and change the way you “see” the darkness.

The 350 Low Light course closely follows our regular 350 curriculum but with much more emphasis on low light shooting and tactics. In this class, beginning on the 2nd day you will start class mid day and train until well after dark giving you plenty of low light and darkness to operate in. Heavy emphasis will be placed on integrating flashlight techniques into your shooting and tactics. You will be challenged and put to the test in both the indoor and outdoor simulators as you learn to solve problems under the most realistic and commonly faced conditions. Culminating in adrenaline pumping force on force training Friday afternoon makes this course as real as it gets!

This class has a physical difficulty level of moderate. Students should be capable of getting into and out of kneeling, sitting and prone positions numerous times each day.

Description:

499 is the second of the post graduate pistol courses, continuing “The Gunsite Experience”.

Advanced Defensive Pistol clients are already very good shooters. At this advanced skill level, even very minor improvements in your technique will lead to major increases in outcomes. In 499, you’ll be expected to perform to the highest of standards. You will learn one handed manipulations and how to clear pistol malfunctions while physically impaired. You’ll learn how to improve your presentation speed and accuracy. Tactical problems will increase in complexity. In this advanced course, you’ll have many more live fire simulators, low light work and much more emphasis on Force on Force.

Increasing existing skill levels, acquiring new skills, ground fighting, less time, more targets, a faster pace, more force-on-force, more low-light exercises, higher standards of proficiency, and more instructors make “499” a very rewarding experience.

Description:

BRAVE 2 is the logical extension for those who have attended Gunsite’s Ballistic Response and Active Violent Encounters classes. BRAVE 2 will build on skills introduced in BRAVE and add skills related to team tactics, tactics in and around a vehicle, hand to hand combat in practical environments and refined responses to common criminal assault patterns. Starting on training day one, students will begin working from concealed carry. Students will be challenged to apply plans and response processes they have been practicing since their BRAVE class to achieve success in real world simulations based on actual events. Along the way, students will have to fix medical problems and notify responding police without causing additional problems for themselves.

This class is a “Train the Trainer” level course and will provide information for establishing, implementing and sustaining an on-going training program based on the class objectives.

Description:

This class is designed to assist in developing your skills as a Firearms Instructor. This is not a basic shooting class. Students are expected to have the basics of marksmanship and safe gun handling prior to arrival. This class will cover presentations and lectures, both on and off the range, adult learning concepts, peer and instructor critiques, developing presentations, safely managing a range, supervising and directing assistant instructors, and presenting the various weapons systems and liabilities. This will benefit the new as well as the experienced Firearms Instructor. Learn from Gunsite Rangemasters that are Subject Matter Experts on various state boards and University Professors.

Description:

The Gunsite experience for those of us who have been around and have the aches and pains to prove it.

You will stay upright throughout as there will be no kneeling or prone assumptions. 260 is The Modern Technique as applied to the defensive shotgun. You will now be in command of one of the least-understood but most prolific weapon systems available. Effective out to and beyond 100 yards, the defensive shotgun’s flexibility and versatility demands a special set of manipulation skills, making it a “thinking person’s” weapon system.

In your 260 you develop the marksmanship and manipulation skills that will make you the master of this potent arm. Your ability to make ammunition selection, continuity of fire, malfunction clearances and transitions to the handgun will keep you in the fight. The defensive shotgun is a demanding weapon system, but extremely effective. In the home, on the road, or on duty, the Gunsite 260 defensive shotgun experience will provide you with the unique skills to be highly effective with this versatile tool.

Description:

You have completed the Gunsite 260 Experience! Now you wish to attain the highest level of preparation. SATP will give you authoritative command of the shotgun. You will deliver maximum energy to the target in the minimum amount of time. Here we will work in increasingly complex tactical problems in both indoor and outdoor formats, including a night shoot in each of the simulators.

One handed and extensive support side operation of the shotgun, 2 person team movement, longer distances utilizing rifled slugs, introduction to other intermediate shooting positions, and other challenges in this fast paced 2 day finishing school for the shotgunner!

Many of our clients ask about the use and application of lasers on their personal defense handguns. In response, Gunsite has teamed up with Crimson Trace to develop a 250 Pistol class that focuses on the use of lasers. This course offers the complete 250 doctrine while adding in the practical advantages of visible lasers. The tactical applications, benefits and limitations of visible lasers are thoroughly covered in this class. Along with learning Gunsite doctrine in the use of your pistol sights, you will also learn when, where and how to use the laser in a variety of conditions and environments. There will be 1 evenings of low light shooting to allow the best conditions for laser use.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to understand the Gunsite experience and what it can do for you. Certified training can provide a firewall of protection against civil lawsuits for negligence and lack of qualified training. The course will cover the Modern Technique, speed reloads vs. tactical reloads, weapon malfunctions, pivots and turns, barricades and tactical guidelines.

If you’ve been to Gunsite, this course is a great refresher. This 3-day class is not a substitute for the 5-day 250 pistol class. Many of the field exercises of the full class are not attempted due to the compressed time schedule and lack of simulators.

This class goes beyond the basics of the pistol and carbine and delves into working as a team with both weapons systems. The shooters will work simulators (indoors and out), as an individual and as a team. Vehicle bailouts, shooting on the move, team movement, emergency medical procedures, bounding/break contact, bounding over watch, and hostage drills will also be covered.

This class is a “Train the Trainer” level course and will provide information for establishing, implementing and sustaining an on-going training program based on the class objectives.

This very successful Level 1 Tactical Tracking course consists of 44 hours instruction based upon David Scott-Donelan’s almost 50 years of operational and instructional experience world-wide. Constructed in such a way, it is suitable for police, corrections, military and SAR personnel. Commencing with individual tracking skills it progresses to team techniques and tactics which can be effectively utilized in just about every terrain type as well as urban environments and for night tracking operations.

This class is open to law enforcement officers, corrections personnel, SAR, military personnel and any previous graduates of Gunsite Academy courses. Consideration will also be given to certain specialists such as forensic examiners who may have use of tracking skills for evidence recovery.

Mirroring conditions from the field, pressure on the operator is increased as distance to target is decreased. Advanced manipulations, short reaction times and quick transitions to the secondary weapon are stressed in this fast-paced, hard-driving course. As the master of the carbine, you will shoot well, on the move, in any direction of travel relative to the targets. You will shoot from unconventional, but effective positions. You will experience many advanced simulator problems and force-on-force exercises. “556” is physically and mentally demanding. It is also equally rewarding.
