Description:

Overview

The Guardian Long Range Competition is a full day or two day precision shooting event that offers opportunities to test your skill with a rifle and compete for prizes and bragging rights.

Roster/Squads

Roster is limited to 120 shooters, that will be spread across several squads. You can select your desired squad during registration.

Match Discipline

This long range rifle match will have a hybrid theme; part tactical, and part "hearth and home." The match layout is what we call the "Guardian" genre. Stages will range between battlefield simulations, and survival scenarios which call for a long range rifle shooting skill set. Shooters will be on time restrictions specific to each stage, and realistic stress-inducing shooting positions will be employed.

Engagement Distances

Shooters will engage targets out to 1000 yards. Target will be reactive steel targets, and a shot anywhere on the target's plate will be counted as a hit. Some shooters will qualify for bonus targets, but more will be explained about this stage on match day.

Must have:

Bring 200 rounds to be on the safe side. You will not likely need that much, but it's never a bad idea to have some extra ammo on hand. The better shooters will use a minimal amount of shots to successfully complete each stage. The fewer shots you fire, the better your score will be.

Overview

The Guardian Long Range Competition has been conducting charity matches benefiting foster kids and orphans since 2014. Since its inception, Guardian charity matches have raised over $750,000 due to the spectacular support of shooters and sponsors from around the world.

2-Man Match Overview

This “sniper-style” team match will provide participants with the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to function as a 2-man sniper team in a stressed induced environment. Over the 2-days at Arena Training Center, shooters can expect a match that will primarily focus on effective communication, teamwork, and problem solving under mental and physical stressful conditions. Secondarily, this match will incorporate natural physical stressors that occur while accomplishing your missions. When the Guardian leadership team began considering the concept of a team match, the goal was to create an experience that will be the most fun and unique match ever created. Like many other 2-man team matches, this will require one shooter to use a 223/308 chambered rifle, while the other shooter can use any caliber desired. Both shooters will also need to utilize their own pistol. Shooters are expected to also carry all their equipment for the duration of the entire match. Abandoning equipment or sharing equipment with other teams is prohibited. Shooters should bring 200 rifle & 175 pistol rounds. (There will be lots of pistol)

Duration of stages will range from seconds to several minutes. All under time, shooters can expect to do short forced marches (1/4 mile), perform physically and mentally challenging activities. While not required, it is highly recommended that team have practice working together as a sniper/spotter team. Skills like KIMS, target identification, effective communication, spotting, urban map reading, and familiarity with each other’s weapon system will be important in throughout this match.

Water will be provided at the beginning of the day, and each team will need to carry their own water, and are responsible for managing their own meals. A team dinner will be held Saturday night during the prize give-a-ways. Top teams and other categories will be awarded at the conclusion of the match Sunday afternoon.

· When: November 14 (Saturday), November 15 (Sunday) - Where: Government Training Institute, Blakely SC

· Match Director: Todd VanLangen

· Cost: $250/per person ($500 team)

Prerequisite: While the goal of this match is not a measurement of extreme fitness, please keep in mind that it will be much more demanding than any previous Guardian match to date. This is not an ideal match for new shooters, as it requires a tremendous amount of finding--ranging--engaging targets with a team mate. If you cannot physically drag/carry 100lbs or have difficulty with physically strainous activity you should reconsider participating in this match. We also caution people who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy, have difficulty with loud noises/explosions from participating.

OVERVIEW
Traditional Guardian matches follow a modest tempo match with minimal breaks between stages. The course of fire often cover disciplines from across law enforcement, military and practical marksman spectrums. The competition format varies based on the host facility, but usually require anywhere from 80 to 250 rounds to complete several stages over a single day or multiple days. The course is caliber restricted to 300 Win Mag and below to preserve the steel targets. See examples below of what our matches are like.

--DISTANCES
Competitors can expect to engage targets at known distances from 100 to 1000 yards. Host locations often allow rangefinders and any equipment you can safely utilize. Target size will vary in difficulty based on the shooter's position, distance, and time allotted. Shooters often have 90-120 seconds to engage a target. Most stages will include “stressors”-- either time and/or short movements to the shooting stage area. Target will be reactive steel targets, and a shot anywhere on the target's plate will be counted as a hit.

--SQUADDING
Once registered, shooters will be able to self-squad in PractiScore. Shooters who do not self-squad will be auto assigned.
