This class is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of how to safely handle, function, and shoot a handgun. Perfect for new or novice shooters, this is a low-stress, fun-oriented course that installs comfort and confidence. Following a classroom lecture, covering an assortment of topics, students participate in "dry" drills where they learn to safely handle and function their handgun before firing any shots. Students are then put through a series of live-fire drills where they practice all the topics covered in the classroom.

Topics Covered:

Handgun ammunition types, common types of handguns, pros & cons to different types of handguns, basic firearms safety, marksmanship fundamentals, practical dry drills, live-fire drills, gun care and maintenance.

You can’t waste time or resources on anything that isn’t a specialized area of study. Build the foundation you need to understand intuitive defensive shooting and deadly force decision making. Discover how you can develop the ability to apply your shooting skills on demand, without anticipation, while trying to save your own life or the lives of others. You will be run through the Home-Defense Simulation Drill and if time permits the Take A Lap Drill and Tactical Stroll Drill.

The USCCA Concealed Carry Course is a comprehensive course for anyone considering carrying a firearm for self-defense. This course length is usually 7 hours which includes both classroom and range components, uses a laser-training gun to develop point-shooting skills in the classroom and culminates with live fire on a range.

This course covers the following topics: develop your own personal protection plan; understand conflict avoidance; situational awareness; understanding of the physiology of violent encounters; the legal aspects of using deadly force (including knowing what to do in the aftermath); and a guide to gear and gadgets. The course culminates with live fire on a range.

The fundamentals of shooting will be reviewed, and built upon. This class includes the types of handguns and how they function, the types of bullets & ballistics, common malfunctions and corrective actions, use of holsters and concealed carry and establishing personal boundaries. This class also includes plenty of dry-fire training and laser gun practice, culminating with intermediate handgun live-fire drills.

The class is approximately 4.5 hours in length with classroom and live-fire on the range. Bring your own handgun (pistol or revolver), one spare magazine and 100 rounds of ammunition. Rental guns and ammunition are available at Sheepdog. Cost is $55.

Sheepdog Firearms is excited to be able to provide training for Church Security and Crisis Teams. Sheepdog Firearms will be hosting training courses for Church Security and Crisis Teams starting with a basic handgun safety and shooting skills course. The course is one of four other courses which will cover reload drills, concealment carry, weapon malfunction drills, shooting on the move drills, first aid and force on force drills in a response to an active shooter. Sheepdog Firearms can assist any church or organization with the development of an Emergency Action Plan and site assessments which is done as a ministry through our business which is free of charge. All of our instructors are current and retired law enforcement, current and retired fire fighters and medics. Training can be organized at your location for some of the courses and site assessments.

Description:

This class covers shooting while moving, shooting while properly using cover and concealment and a shooting in low-light situations utilizing a flashlight. You will need a good flashlight with fresh batteries, a minimum of 200 rounds of ammunition for your weapon. If you do not have your own weapon you may use one of ours free of charge and purchase the ammunition.

This class is $125 and limited to 10 people.
